Whats good from GooD HooD!

Over the past several weeks, we have been working hard in the studio and making lots of progress on our new album Liquid Assets. We are more than halfway finished, but we are still working on the last few tracks as well as getting together our guest artist features. We had the NC representa and Heavy Syndication alum Broadway Miller in the studio with us about a week ago for a guest appearance on a new song! Expect nothing but greatness when talented artists collaborate!

So as far as new music goes, we will be PREMIERING A NEW SONG this Thursday night when we appear as guests on True Stream, a radio show on internet radio station Blis.fm. The show is from 7-9 PM ET so make sure you check it out and call in with your questions and opinions.

We have also been featured on DJ Spade1's Minutes of Madness 8 mixtape, now available on DatPiff! The mixtape features some of the best up-and-coming hip-hop artists from Europe, Asia, the USA, and all over the world. Be sure to give it a listen!

Last but not least, we were recently interviewed by Skope Magazine's Jimmy Rae, who asked about everything from our origins to our taste in music, hobbies, and more. Check it out at www.skopemag.com.

As you can tell, we are staying busy, but the best is still to come!!

Happy New Year from GooD HooD

Whats good !! Happy New Year from Deuce & Sab'rey!!

Hopefully you got to spend some time with family and good friends over the holidays. Deuce was back in Chicago & Evanston for Christmas and Sab'rey went back for New Year's. Both of us were blessed to have the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and spend time back home in the E catchin up with our people.

With the arrival of 2012, we are more focused than ever. We have been hard at work in the lab puttin down new songs for our new Liquid Assets album. At this point, we are about halfway through the recording process. The songs we have done so far are coming out BANANAS, but we refuse to leak anything until the whole project is completed. Trust me when I tell you it will be worth the wait!

In other news, our brother Trotter has released his new album, T.P.M. - Trap Philosophy Music! A true innovator, Trotter has collaborated with our lil bro and super producer Po to put together a masterpiece! Make sure to check out LAVENDER feat. SAB'REY!! Last year was a great year for us, from the filming and release of our latest music video, GAME TIGHT (now over 10,000 views on Youtube), to getting the Liquid Assets album started, to performing at a rack of different shows and venues in the DMV and meeting hella people in the music industry, we are very pleased with our progress and evolution as artists and businessmen. 2012 is gonna be a breakthrough year for us! Bigger and better every step of the way! From the Chi to the DMV, all our hip hop family, LET'S GET IT!!

Shows & Studio Sessions!!

Deuce & Battery @ 9:30 Club Whats good GooD HooD fam... Your boys have been keeping busy! We recently linked with our guy and one of our favorite producers, Battery, as he came through DC on tour at 9:30 Club with Killer Mike. It was great choppin it up with our old friend! We're expecting new fire production from him and best believe we will crush it! Also coming through DC was my brother Trotter, who has been cookin up an amazing album of his own, entitled T.P.M. - Trap Philosophy Music. This album is 10 tracks of raw Chi-town Hip-Hop (including a feature on LAVENDER by Sab'rey) that gets our full and complete cosign! Can't wait for him to release it so we can share this dopeness with you! This past Wednesday night, we performed at Spot Lounge in DC. Also hitting the stage were OOZ, Top Shelf, Mazerati Music and several other DMV artists on their grind. Roc Mikey was in the building shooting his video for "Uptown" as well. Shout out to Stamp DMV and Black Park Entertainment for the opportunity. This Saturday, we will be ripping the mic again at Queen Makeda (1917 9th Sreet NW, DC) for Cake & Kisses, a monthly showcase organized by One Vs. Many Records & DCRap.com. Come out if you are in the DMV. We have still been putting in work in the studio at Listen Vision, recently cranking out a new banger called BOOM, produced by OneTwoKno from Chicago! This record is gonna blow ya mind, but we're keeping everything under tight wraps for now! Late last night/ early AM we hit up Gudda Musik studios in DC where Sabrey put down a verse on a new record with Brian Angel of Day 26. It was a great experience getting to work with Brian and see how he does his thing. A true professional. Shout out to DJ Momo and the Gudda Musik team for the hospitality. We also recently had a chance encounter with renowned hip-hop scholar Michael Eric Dyson. After our conversation he checked out our website and cosigned our song Game Tight as "Mellow & smooth, nice hip hop" on Twitter!! Last Sunday, we saw Skyzoo, Kid Daytona, and Uptown XO hit the stage in the IndieLife Series at U Street Music Hall and chopped it up with Skyzoo afterwards. Much respect to that dude for his humility and staying so grounded. We also caught former Floetry songstress Marsha Ambrosius performing live at Warner Theater on Halloween. She had an amazing stage presence and seemed extremely comfortable, doing a great job of engaging the audience. More adventures to come!! Peace...

Recording sessions going well!!

Yesterday afternoon we recorded the second song of our package deal at Listen Vision studios in DC. Shout to our engineer Sergio (@Sergio_Cortez) for his great work. Produced by MG The Future (@MGTheFuture) from North Carolina, the new song is called Red 2 Go and it is a WINNER!!! Sometimes you just know when you got a sure fire-starter on your hands and this is one of them! The other song we have recorded is called First Class and also produced by MG. We're gonna keep our foot on the gas with our recording pace so we can get these released to you soon!! Can't wait to share the new sound with everyone.

Over the weekend, we attended the Gentleman Jack Art, Beats, & Life event in DC. More than a concert, more than an art exhibit, this was a cultural showcase of hip-hop with dope music, a great crowd, and plenty of bourbon flowing like water!! Check out some of the pics on Facebook. We also got to see Black Star perform live at the brand new Fillmore Silver Spring concert venue a couple weeks ago. First time seeing em live and Mos Def & Talib more than lived up to expectations!!

Record Deal

Yesterday, Sab'rey and I signed an album recording deal with Listen Vision Studios in Washington, DC. They will record, engineer, mix, and master 12 songs for us, as well as design and package our upcoming Liquid Assets LP. We have recorded a couple of songs, Beautiful Game and Take Off, with Listen Vision and we have been very satisfied with their professionalism and quality work. The best part is, we still remain independent and retain complete control and ownership of our music. We're really excited to be getting back in the lab on a consistent basis and can't wait for you to hear what we're coming up with.

Special thanks to those of you who came out to our show last Wednesday night at Spot Lounge despite the miserable weather. Some true supporters braved the rainstorms to show up and it really means a lot to us! We are working on setting up more shows and will keep you posted.

This Thursday, August 11, we will be releasing the GAME TIGHT music video!! At midnight, the video will be shown at the premiere party at Lotus Lounge in DC and simultaneously released online. With Bacardi specials and an open bar from 9-11, the party is gonna be crackin!! Check out the details!! We'd love to see you there if you can make it out. GAME TIGHT music video rescheduled

Due to terrible weather last Sunday, we were unable to shoot the video as planned. Therefore, the shoot has been rescheduled for this upcoming Saturday, March 12. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Sab'rey and Deuce!! We hope you are able to take time today to enjoy the company of your loved ones and count your blessings for all the wonderful things in your life. Currently, I (Deuce) am in Chicago/Evanston for the weekend with my family. Sab'rey was unable to make the trip and is still in DC. This Christmas was a little different for my family because we are without my sister, who is currently living in Peru teaching English. We did manage to talk to her on Skype though. After a fantastic Christmas Eve party, I spent all night talking with friends, then watched the sun rise over Lake Michigan. It was beautiful beyond words!! I love and miss my hometown... Great people, great culture, great city!! There's nothin like it...

Liquid Assets EP

After four years of working together as the group GooD HooD, we've finally launched our website! This has been a long time coming and should have happened long ago. However, it is happening now, and we want to say THANK YOU to our families, friends, and fans who have supported us and our music in making it to this milestone. We couldn't have done it without you.

So... It's only right that our first major announcement on GooDHooDHipHop.com is the planned release of our debut EP, LIQUID ASSETS! We've already recorded several tracks for the album, but we are still busily working in the studio to make this a reality. If you want to help us make the album happen, we will soon be launching a crowdfunding project so you can contribute. For all producers out there who think you have the right sound for us, we are still accepting tracks, so send us some samples to listen to and we'll certainly consider them for inclusion.
